GEORGE TOWN, The Penang Bridge and the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Second bridge will be closed in stages on July 28, in conjunction with the Penang Fellowship Ride Bridge to Bridge 2024 cycling event. Penang State youth and sports committee chairman Daniel Gooi said the Penang Bridge (from Island to Prai) will be closed from 6.30am to 9am while the Second Bridge (from Batu Kawan to the island) will be closed from 9am to 12 noon. "The Penang Fellowship Ride cycling event is scheduled to start and finish at the Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong, here. A number of roads involved in the route will also be closed in stages to ensure the success of the event,' he said here today. According to Gooi, the ride will take participants through the Penang Bridge, Juru Industrial Road, Batu Kawan before returning to the Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong via the Second Bridge and Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu highway. He said 2,343 participants have registered for the ride which is expected to be flagged off by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ah mad Fuzi Abdul Razak who will also join the 66km ride, just like lasy year.
