MELAKA, The national-level 2024 Rukun Negara Oratory Competition for the Melaka Governor's Trophy serves as an ideal platform for students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the Rukun Negara. Deputy Minister of National Unity K. Saraswathy said the competition allows participating students to incorporate the principles of Rukun Negara into their daily lives. 'They can practise these principles, offering the young generation an opportunity to understand the meaning of Rukun Negara,' she told reporters after the event, which was officiated by Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam today. Also present were state Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman, representing the Melaka Chief Minister, and state Health, Human Resources and Unity Committee chairman Ngwe Hee Sem. Meanwhile, Ngwe said this year's competition, held annually since 2021, saw the participation of 3,755 contestants. These included 1,716 in the primary school category, 1,808 in the secondary school category, 88 from institutions of higher learning, 58 from the public, and 85 from the non-Malay category.
