Phnom penh: An on-site inspection visit conducted by a delegation of foreign diplomats and military attach©s on July 30 reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to transparency, responsible conduct, and a peaceful resolution of the border conflict with Thailand, as well as its full implementation of the recently agreed ceasefire.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, stated that the delegation, led by H.E. Lt. Gen. Rath Dararath, Secretary of State at the Ministry, visited the 3rd Intervention Division and the An Seh border area in Preah Vihear province. The purpose of the visit was to obtain direct, on-the-ground information for a more accurate and comprehensive assessment.
'The Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to providing and promoting transparent, fact-based reporting of the situation to demonstrate its adherence to peaceful and responsible conduct,' she stated.
The spokesperson reiterated Cambodia's full compliance with the core principles of the ceasefire agreement, which include immediate cessation of hostilities; no mobilisation or deployment of additional troops or weaponry; and maintaining troop positions.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata also called on all parties to contribute constructively to fostering further positive outcomes and building lasting peace.
