Phnom penh: H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), engaged in discussions with senior executives from the U.S.-based investment firm Argentem Creek. The meeting, held on August 4, focused on exploring potential investment opportunities within Cambodia’s expanding financial sector.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the delegation was led by Mr. Maarten Terlouw, President and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Argentem Creek. The discussions, which took place at NBC’s headquarters in Phnom Penh, concentrated on strategic investments aimed at supporting the evolution of Cambodia’s financial ecosystem.
Argentem Creek, affiliated with the Salmon Group, a fintech operator from the Philippines, is actively seeking to broaden its presence in Southeast Asia, identifying Cambodia as a significant market of interest.
During the meeting, Pavel Fedorov, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Salmon Group, presented the company’s digital finance-driven business model. He emphasized the impor
tance of progressive regulations in promoting financial inclusion.
H.E. Dr. Chea Serey expressed her appreciation for Argentem Creek’s interest in Cambodia. She highlighted the country’s investor-friendly policies under its Law on Investment and recent improvements to its financial infrastructure. Dr. Serey also advised new market entrants to collaborate closely with NBC’s technical teams to ensure they make informed decisions.
In addition, the NBC Governor extended an invitation to the delegation to visit the Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum of Economy and Money to gain a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s economic and monetary heritage.
