NA Second Vice President Engages with Chinese Legal Scholars on Strategic Cooperation


Phnom penh: H.E. Vong Sauth, Second Vice President of the National Assembly, met with a delegation of Chinese legal scholars led by Prof. Hu Rong’en, Director of China’s Institute of Legal Studies of the Maritime Silk Road. The meeting underscored mutual interests and cooperative endeavors between Cambodia and China.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Second Vice President expressed gratitude to China for its longstanding support to Cambodia, highlighting China’s role as a key investor and supporter of Cambodia’s development path. He emphasized the significance of the China-Cambodia Tourism Year 2025 as a symbol of the expanding partnership between the two nations.



The discussions centered on the potential for enhanced collaboration, particularly in agriculture, where H.E. Vong Sauth encouraged Chinese investment. He noted the advancements in the sector, largely attributed to China’s technical support and market access facilitation. The Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement, effective since 2022, was cited as a pivotal element in fostering economic cooperation and prosperity.



The Second Vice President sought Prof. Hu’s assistance in enhancing Cambodia’s legal frameworks to streamline trade and investment processes. Prof. Hu, on his first official visit, expressed a deep connection with Cambodia and a commitment to promoting Chinese investment in the country. He pledged to collaborate with relevant organizations to improve legal procedures and create a conducive investment environment under the Belt and Road Initiative.
