KUALA LUMPUR, The 'Inspirasi Pelajar Inovasi Muzium' (IPIM) or Museum Innovation Student Inspiration programme, a structured museum education programme, has been open since June 14. In a statement today, the Ministry of National Unity said the programme is being implemented by the ministry through the Department of Museums Malaysia in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. According to the statement, IPIM is a programme designed through a combination of formal and informal education (museum education) using a hands-on approach to museum collections to support the teaching and learning process and pedagogy. National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang expressed his hope that the programme will foster understanding and awareness among the younger generation, especially school students, regarding the diversity of historical and cultural heritage that must be appreciated and preserved as a shared national identity. He said teachers can use museum institutions as a PdP support system to enhance stude nt outcomes. The IPIM programme utilises a Museum Education Plan based on collections (artefacts) specifically designed according to the Curriculum and Assessment Standard Document (DSKP) and the Daily Lesson Plan (RPH) of the History subject. Schools or teachers interested in participating in this programme can apply via http://ipim.jmm.gov.my/formpermohonan-ipim.
