Malaysian qari (male reciter) Muhammad Husaini Mahmur was among the eight contestants who presented their recitations on the sixth day of the 64th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA) tonight. The qari from Negeri Sembilan recited verses from Surah Fatir. In a Facebook post, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) said other reciters were Belal Abdullah Ali Al Aghbari (Yemen), Ahmad Daniyal Mohd Rizal (Singapore), Rawbi'ah Isaacs (South Africa), Mazen Autallah Al Hadidi (Jordan), Hamid Rezanasiri Vahidfar (Iran), Kinza Vanthanouvong (Laos) and Sayed Amir Hashimi (Afghanistan). The recitation category ends tomorrow. Yesterday, 39 contestants in the memorisation category completed their recitations. Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof opened the World Quran Symposium 2024, which was held in conjunction with MTHQA at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. The 64th MTHQA, themed 'Al-Falah Pemacu Malaysia MADANI,' officiated by Prime Minist er Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, involved 92 participants from 71 countries, comprising 53 recitation and 39 memorisation contestants. His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, will grace the prize presentation ceremony this Saturday. Source: BERNAMA News Agency
