Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation H.E. Hem Vanndy has advised Mondulkiri and Rattanakiri DISTIs to prioritise the province's potential in agro-processing and to ensure the sustainability of long-term water supply services. H.E. Minister made the advice during his visits to Mondulkiri and Rattanakiri Provincial Departments of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (DISTIs) on Sept. 2, according to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI)'s news release. In addition to outlining MISTI's priority agenda in the 7th mandate of the government, H.E. Hem Vanndy stressed that agro-processing in the two provinces have the potential to add value to local produce, enhance local economies, and serve as new sources of growth. H.E. Minister also urged the provincial water supply authority and provincial departments to play an active and pro-active role in sustainably managing key water sources and improving water supply services, by taking initiatives in col laboration with the provincial administrations and with MISTI. He added that the increasing demand for water supply for both consumption and industrial development, combined with the escalating effects of climate change, necessitates that the state plan for water supply decades into the future.
