The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the American Centre for International Labour Solidarity (ACILS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on labour cooperation. The MoU was inked between H.E. Heng Sour, the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, and Mr. William Conklin, ACILS Country Director, in Phnom Penh on Aug. 6. H.E. Heng Sour said the agreement will further strengthen professional relations and occupational safety in factories and enterprises in Cambodia, which are key for sustaining investment and attracting more foreign investors to the country. It also reflects the trust among the two parties and the intimate relations between Cambodia and the U.S., he added. Mr. William Conklin spoke highly of the Royal Government of Cambodia's efforts to upgrade legal and institutional mechanisms, especially for the protection of workers, and firmly believed that the MoU rollout would be a success.
