Minister of Health Welcomes Gavi Audit Team from Geneva Headquarters

Phnom penh: H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health of Cambodia, met with Ms. Charity Tusiime, Head of Program Audit (Anglophone) at Gavi’s Geneva headquarters, and her delegation at the Ministry of Health here on July 31. The discussions centred on the findings of an audit assessing Gavi-supported immunization programmes in Cambodia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Ms. Tusiime commended the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of Health for their strong collaboration during the audit, emphasising that the evaluation is part of Gavi’s standard five-year review cycle for all supported nations. She highlighted Cambodia as a standout example for its commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective programme implementation.

The audit, which examined Cambodia’s immunisation efforts from 2020 to 2024, included field visits to multiple provinces and the municipality. The findings underscored Cambodia’s success in measles vaccination campaigns and vaccine supply chain management.

However, the report also noted areas requiring further attention, such as enhancing human resource capacity and aligning the national immunisation strategy with Gavi’s forthcoming global framework, Gavi 6.0 (2026-2030).

Minister Chheang Ra expressed his appreciation for Gavi’s ongoing support and the constructive feedback from the audit. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to leveraging the findings-both achievements and recommendations-to refine the national immunisation programme and ensure its strategic roadmap is harmonized with Gavi 6.0 in the years ahead.
