The Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology has received the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Country Director for Cambodia to discuss the expansion of the Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project (IAIP). H.E. Thor Chetha met with the ADB's Country Director, Ms. Jyotsana Varma, and her senior delegation on Aug. 14 at the ministry's office. The minister appreciated ADB for the continuation of the assistance, emphasising that the expansion of the project will support the ministry with the engineering modernisation of key irrigation systems in the provinces of Battambang, Kampong Cham, Takeo, and Kampong Thom. It will also equip the National Water Resources Data Management Centre (NWRDMC) with the latest technology to effectively manage the collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination of information on rainfall, hydrology, and meteorology. Ms. Jyotsana Varma thanked H.E. Thor Chetha for the appreciation and renewed ADB's commitment to support the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology's prioritie s guided by the first phase of the national Pentagonal Strategy.
