The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has detected the actions of unscrupulous individuals posing as the department staff to create fraudulent applications for non-existent services and supplies. MetMalaysia said the fraudulent activity came to light after receiving complaints, which led to checks through the ePerolehan system. It was found that the applications were not registered in the system and included falsified documents and fabricated departmental letterheads. "MetMalaysia takes this matter seriously as it tarnishes the department's reputation in implementing good, transparent, fair, and high-integrity governance. "All procurement transactions by this department are conducted entirely through the online ePerolehan system, and the manual submission of documents is not permitted," it said in a statement today. MetMalaysia advised all parties, particularly those receiving manual applications under the department's name, to exercise caution and contact MetMalaysia's Procurement Unit to avoid any potential losses.
