MERCK FOUNDATION’S DIABETES and HYPERTENSION AWARDS 2024 APPLICATIONS OPEN TO ASIAN MEDIA OUTLETS

KUALA LUMPUR, Merck Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany announced the call for applications for its Media Recognition ‘Diabetes and Hypertension’ Awards 2024 for journalists from Asian countries, with entry of submission due on Oct 30.

In a statement, Merck Foundation said media representatives are invited to showcase their work to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise awareness about prevention and early detection of diabetes and hypertension, based on the theme of the awards.

Its Chief Executive Officer, Senator Dr. Rasha Kelej said she believed the media has the power to influence the society and hence, plays an instrumental role in raising awareness of prevalent health issues.

‘Hence, I am inviting all media representatives from Asian countries to participate in our Media Awards and share their most meaningful work that has helped raise awareness about diabetes and hypertension, and highlight the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

‘Through our awards, storybooks and animati
on films, I want to remind everyone that good health is our greatest treasure!’ she said.

The awards are open to all the journalists from Asian countries that are part of print, online, radio and multimedia platforms, with prize money of US$500 for each category. (US$1=RM4.73)

The most creative and influential work aiming to raise awareness and sensitising communities on diabetes and hypertension on a regular basis will be eligible to win these awards.

Merck Foundation has also launched these awards for African and Latin American countries, apart from the launching of ‘Sugar Free Jude’ and ‘Mark’s Pressure’, the first animation films adapted from children’s storybooks, to raise awareness about diabetes and hypertension as well as to promote healthy lifestyle, amongst children and youth in Africa and beyond.
