MELAKA JPNIN GETS RM1.452 MLN GRANT FROM FEDERAL GOV’T TO EMPOWER KRTS


MELAKA, The Melaka National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) has received a RM1.452 million grant from the federal government to empower neighbourhood watch areas (KRT) in the state.

State Health, Human Resources and Unity Committee chairman Ngwe Hee Sem said the allocation had been distributed to 242 registered KRTs in the state, with each receiving approximately RM6,000 to implement community programmes and activities.

‘Each KRT plays a crucial role in preserving harmony and ensure the well-being as well as safety within the local community

‘With the allocation, they can implement programmes within their communities, like gotong-royong to combat dengue in their respective areas,’ he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the state-level Unity Week celebration in Ayer Keroh here today.

Elaborating, Ngwe said that in addition to the allocation, the Melaka government has set aside RM300,000 for the state JPNIN through the 2024 State Budget.

‘This is the second year that the stat
e JPNIN has received funding for implementing various unity initiatives, such as the MADANI Unity Community programmes,’ he said.
