MELAKA, The Melaka National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) has launched five key activities to fuel the National Month celebration under the state-level Malaysiaku Merdeka Programme. Its director, Intan Suhana Yusuff, said the five activities include the 1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang campaign, where community areas are adorned with flags and sculptures representing national landmarks. 'We also made 10 speeches involving the unity machinery, which were presented via banners, e-posters and video recordings and shared on social media platforms. 'In addition, we produced 10 Unity Vlogs, or short videos that incorporate elements of independence, nationhood and unity,' she told Bernama. Intan Suhana said that the Bakat Merdeka activities aim to showcase Melaka's culture and attract visitors through performances, demonstrations, exhibitions and competitions. 'Children, especially those who receive early education at Tabika and Taska Perpaduan, can participate in competitions such as traditional fashion sh ows, storytelling about independence figures or community leaders or making short videos,' she said. She added that the various activities, which are being held from July 27 to Sept 16, involve all levels of society, including government agencies, private and corporate bodies and non-governmental organisations. 'The goal of this programme is to ignite the spirit of patriotism, increase understanding of our independence history and promote unity and appreciation for the diversity of the nation's independence heritage among the people,' she said.
