MCM BUILDS 14 TUBE WELLS TO ADDRESS CLEAN WATER SUPPLY PROBLEMS IN PASIR MAS

PASIR MAS, Muslim Care Malaysia (MCM) has built 14 tube wells, worth RM291,200, to provide clean water in 14 locations around Rantau Panjang, here, which have been facing water supply problems for the past few years.

Its president Zulkifli Wahijan said that the project, which started in June last year and was fully completed in September this year, was the result of zakat or tithe donations from Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB), which benefited about 10,000 users.

“The construction of these tube wells involves several villages, including Kampung Kubang Kual, Bukit Tandak, Kedap, Gual Sitok and Gual Periok, in addition to residential areas, mosques and schools around Rantau Panjang, which we have identified as facing a similar problem.

“Each tube well is built with a depth of more than 100 metres, to ensure that the quality of the water is clean and does not contain impurities,” he told reporters after officiating the Water 2survive 14 MCM and BPMB Tube Wells, at Taman Rantau Mas, Rantau Panjang, here today. It was also attended by the BPMB Group Syariah Management group head, Noor Ain Mohd Amin.

Zulkifli said that MCM is optimistic about expanding the project to other districts in the state, through strategic collaboration opportunities which will be carried out with various contributors.

Meanwhile, Mukim Banggol Kulim penghulu, Yahya Ali, said that the Taman Rantai Mas area has been facing a serious problem of low water pressure since the beginning of this year, forcing about 40 families to obtain water supplies for daily use through tankers provided by Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd (AKSB).

“Alhamdulillah, after using this tube well for the past two months, the water problem here has been completely resolved, in addition to providing comfort to the congregation of a surau here. Thank you MCM for the effort,” he said.

In another development, when asked about MCM's humanitarian aid to Palestine, Zulkifli said that MCM would continue to channel aid to Gaza, and now aid worth RM500,000 has been successfully collected in various forms, including health equipment, beds and food.

“We have also stationed three volunteers at the Rafah border, to prepare to enter Palestine as soon as the border gates are opened, in addition to stationing a team of volunteers of local people in Gaza,” he said.
