IPOH, The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) has disbursed RM360,000 in aid to eight educational institutions in the state under the Higher Education Institutions (IPT) Student Welfare Scheme. MAIPk chief executive officer Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh said that the donation aims to assist students from asnaf families, as well as those from low-income B40 groups, who have been impacted by the rising cost of living. 'The eight educational institutions benefiting from this scheme contribute to zakat collection and have a Zakat Trust Fund Committee. These institutions include Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Seri Iskandar Campus. 'Other recipients are Universiti Teknologi MARA Tapah Campus, Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO), Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah (PSAS), Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur RCMP (UniKL RCMP) also received benefits,' he said in a statement today. He also emphasised MAIPk's commitment to fostering strategic cooperation through its aid schemes to alleviate the burden on those in need and enhance community well-being.
