The Election Commission (EC) is actively making final preparations for the Mahkota state by-election nomination day, which will take place tomorrow. A Bernama check at Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail here found that numerous notices have been placed around the hall for public reference, including for political party supporters expected to attend in support of their candidates. A simulation was also conducted to ensure the smooth running of the nomination process. The simulation covered the arrangements of those allowed into the hall, such as prospective candidates, proposers, and officials, along with the verification process for nomination forms and related documents. The Mahkota by-election was called following the death of its assemblyman, Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, 63, on Aug 2. The EC has set Sept 24 for early voting and Sept 28 for polling. In the Johor state election in March 2022, Sharifah Azizah, who was representing Barisan Nasional, won the seat with a majority of 5,166 votes. Source: BER NAMA News Agency
