The new Samsung Lions slugger Lewin Diaz left Tuesday's game after getting hit by a pitch on his left wrist. Diaz was struck by a 0-1 fastball from Kiwoom Heroes starter Enmanuel De Jesus during the top of the fourth inning of the teams' Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) regular-season game at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The Dominican first baseman went down in obvious pain and was tended to by a trainer. After a few seconds, the trainer made the "X" sign with his arms toward the dugout, indicating Diaz could no longer play. Diaz was lifted for pinch runner Yoon Jeong-bin. The Lions said Diaz suffered a bruise on his left wrist and he was scheduled to undergo further tests at a nearby hospital. A former Miami Marlin, Diaz came over from the Mexican league to make his Lions debut on Aug. 17, replacing Ruben Cardenas. Diaz homered in his first game and put up a .333/.379/.704 line in seven games prior to Tuesday, along with three home runs and seven RBIs. Source: Yonhap News Agency
