LCK Spring Split playoffs set to kick off this weekend

SEOUL, Playoff rounds of the South Korean professional League of Legends (LoL) championships will kick off this weekend, its organizer said Wednesday.

In this year’s regular LoL Champions Korea (LCK) season, which ended Sunday, reigning champion Gen.G defended its title and T1 finished runner-up.

The top two teams have moved straight up to the second round of the LCK Spring 2024 playoffs next week.

Four other teams — Hanwha Life, KT Rolster, Dplus Kia and Kwandong Freecs — will compete in the first round of the playoffs this weekend.

The finals will be held April 14.

The organizer said this year’s spring league winner and runner-up will win tickets to the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), an annual LoL international tournament, slated for May in Chengdu, China.

The MSI champion will advance to the LoL World Championship, set to take place in the second half of the year.

T1, led by the star player Faker, or Lee Sang-hyeok, won the LoL Championship last year, clinching a record fourth title in the popula
r e-sports tournament.
