KUALA LUMPUR, The Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Ministry (KUSKOP) is targeting a potential investment of RM80 million through the participation of 26 halal companies and 14 local brand franchise companies at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2024. Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the amount involved the target sales value of RM30 million for halal industry products and RM50 million for franchise industry products. "In last year's MIHAS, KUSKOP obtained a total sales value of RM20 million through halal industry products. "We hope (this time) that more industry players, companies and exhibitors will hold discussions and sign MoUs with us throughout the three days of the MIHAS event," he said. He was opening the KUSKOP MIHAS Pavilion and witnessing the signing of four Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) involving local halal entrepreneurial companies with domestic and foreign business partners at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) today. He said KUSKOP 's participation with local entrepreneurs at MIHAS is proof of the government's commitment in promoting local entrepreneurs to the global level. "We are confident that this opportunity will greatly benefit Malaysian entrepreneurs to expand their business network, especially through increased strategic cooperation with international investors," he said. Ewon also expressed the hope that this participation will be a starting point for more opportunities for local entrepreneurs to improve their competitiveness at the global level. "I hope that our entrepreneurs can take the opportunity to introduce their products and services to the international market, and also to build a stronger and strategic network with investors and business partners from all over the world," he said. MIHAS 2024 organised by the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is taking place from today until Sept 20.
