KUD@PUTRAJAYA 2023 SURPASSES VISITOR, SALES TARGETS – RUBIAH

PUTRAJAYA, The Rural Entrepreneur Carnival (KUD@Putrajaya) 2023 has surpassed both its sales target of RM10 million and its attendance target of 1 million visitors, Deputy Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang said.

The five-day carnival managing to rake in a total of RM12.5 million in cash transactions, business matches, and bookings, with 1.04 million visitors recorded so far, she told reporters after the closing ceremony and lucky draw prize presentation at Anjung Floria here today.

“Alhamdulillah this is a great achievement, and this year the ministry was able to gather over 800 entrepreneurs from all over the country for one carnival,” she said, adding that the carnival had achieved its objective of empowering rural communities via entrepreneurial activities.

She also added that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, was very proud and happy about the carnival’s success, despite being unable to attend as he was recuperating from a surgery on Nov 16.

Meanwhile, lucky draw main prize winner Muhammad Amirul Ashraf Napi, 29, who won a Perodua Myvi car, could not contain his excitement as he described the prize as a blessing from his recent first-born.

“It is the first time I have won such a big gift. Alhamdulillah, I can drive it to work to my office in Mont Kiara,” said Amirul, who is from Banting, Selangor.

KUD@Putrajaya 2023 will end tonight, having achieved a significant impact not only in terms of sales volume but also by giving a positive perception that the quality of rural entrepreneurs’ products is on par with foreign products.

The carnival was attended by all KKDW agencies including Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda), the Community Development Department (Kemas), the Penang Regional Development Authority (Perda) and the South East Johor Development Authority (Kejora).
