KUANTAN, Kuantan 188, Malaysia's second tallest tower, has created a specially designed reading room with mystery and horror vibes, available until the end of the year to coincide with the school holidays. The mystery reading room, which is in the lobby, provides Bahasa Malaysia and English books in the mystery and horror genres by famous authors such as John Connolly, Derek Landy, Stephen King and Ramlee Awang Murshid. Pahang Public Library Corporation (PPAP) director Nor Zahira Muhammad Azmi said the entrance is free and the room is aimed at cultivating a reading culture. "The books offered are from the Sultan Ahmad Shah Public Library here. We chose the horror and mystery genres as these are the most popular books with library visitors," she said. Nor Zahira was speaking to reporters after signing a Memorandum of Understanding between PPAP and Kuantan 188, which was represented by its general manager Khalisa Azman at the opening of the mystery room here today. The books are meant for reading in the room only. However, they may be borrowed from the library which is about three kilometres from Kuantan 188. The mystery reading room concept was introduced at the Bentong public library and received an encouraging response from library patrons, particularly teenagers, as it offered them a novel reading experience.
