KOTA BHARU, A rice mill that was not in operation in Kampung Tempoyak Ketereh here was destroyed in a fire yesterday. Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Md Roslan Omar said they dispatched firefighting teams to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 1.32 am. He said the mill was already 60 per cent ablaze when firemen reached the scene. He said the firefighting operation was carried out using water from a nearby ditch, with additional assistance from an excavator, before the fire was brought under control at 2.07 am. 'We also received assistance from the Pasir Tumboh Fire and Rescue Station and two other stations, with a total of 23 personnel and officers involved in the operation.
