Koh Kong mud crab, another Cambodia's potential goods, is going to be registered as the country's geographical indication (GI) product, after the Ministry of Commerce's Department of Intellectual Property (IP), and World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) experts have already conducted research study for this item for three times, under the Post COVID programme. H.E. OUK Prachea, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Commerce, urged WIPO to continue this work, while meeting with Ms. WANG Binying, Deputy Director General of WIPO, on July 16, on the sidelines of the 65th WIPO General Assembly, held from July 9 to 17 in Geneva, Switzerland. He also proposed WIPO to establish a collective mark and certification mark for Cambodian milled rice products. H.E. OUK Prachea also took the opportunity to recall good collaboration between Cambodia and WIPO so far, and thanked the latter for its technical assistance in making law and developing IP system in Cambodia, as well as providing Industrial Property Admi nistration System (IPAS) in the country. In reply, Ms. WANG Binying accepted Cambodia's request, and pledged to dispatch her specialists to discuss the matter with the Ministry of Commerce's Department of IP in the future. To date, Cambodia's registered GI include Kampot pepper, Kampong Speu palm sugar, Mondulkiri wild honey, Koh Trong pomelo, Kampot/Kep salt and salt flower, Takeo lobster, and Kampot/Kep fish source.
