KUALA LUMPUR, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty the Queen, Raja Zarith Sofiah, graced a high tea event to honour the judges and participants of the 64th International Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA). The high tea, held at the Main Banquet Hall of Istana Negara here, was attended by 92 Al-Quran reciters and memorisers from 71 countries. Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan, and Director-General of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee. Their Majesties also presented souvenirs to 20 judges and mingled with the Al-Quran reciters and memorisers who attended the event. The 64th MTHQA, which was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 5, is being participated by 92 contestants from 71 countries, comprising 53 reciters and 39 memorisers . The prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the recitation and memorisation categories is scheduled to be officiated by the King and Queen this Saturday (Oct 12). Source: BERNAMA News Agency
