JELI, The mobile unit of the Kelantan Information Department (JaPen) has been assisting the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) to deliver real-time information regarding the floods in the state’s 10 districts.
State JaPen director Muhd Nor Aswadi Md Nor said that information on current developments of the floods were also conveyed to 135 MADANI communities statewide.
"When faced with a disaster situation, JaPen's mobile unit disseminatse updates periodically to the public, especially in the flood-prone areas.
“JaPen also works closely with other rescue agencies to remind the public to stay vigilant during floods,” he told Bernama after the launch of a safety awareness programme by State National Security Council director Jefny Muhammad at Sekolah Kebangsaan Ayer Chanal here today.
Commenting on the MADANI Community, Muhd Nor Aswadi said the voluntary body plays a crucial role in disseminating information to people in their areas on receiving updates on the floods.
