H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, has called on the Kampong Thom Provincial Department of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (DISTI) to play a vital role in realising the government's vision of transforming Kampong Thom into a national hub for cashew nut processing. H.E. Minister made the call during his visit to the provincial department on Sept. 11, 2024, pointed out the Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI). H.E. Hem Vanndy emphasised the potential of the province, highlighting its extensive cashew plantations and strategic location along key infrastructure route, including the forthcoming expressway. The MISTI minister urged officials at the provincial department to adopt a proactive approach in supporting manufacturing initiatives. He laid stress on the importance of providing laboratory services and promoting the adoption of modern technologies and quality standards to enhance the competitiveness of province's agro-i ndustrial products. He also encouraged stakeholders in the cashew production and processing to utilise government resources and support mechanisms, including financing from the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB), SME Bank of Cambodia, and Khmer Enterprise, to stimulate the growth of the production, processing and export of cashew nuts, and the broader agro-industrial sector.
