JUNE-JULY RAHMAH SALES HIT RM3.2 MLN IN KELANTAN – KPDN

The Rahmah Sale programme which was implemented from June 16 until the beginning of this month in 45 state constituencies in Kelantan recorded a total sales value of RM3.2 million, said state Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) director Azman Ismail.

He said more than RM2.7 million worth of sales were recorded in June involving 71,730 customers.

“From July 1 to 10, the sales value was recorded at approximately RM537,00 involving 15,050 buyers,” he told Bernama after the ‘Consumer Fit Fun Day’ programme at Kampung Bendang Kerian here today.

Through the programme, buyers enjoy subsidised prices given by the government on food essentials like chicken, eggs, rice and cooking oil, he said.

Azman said the Rahmah Sale programme will be implemented on weekends only until December, but if there is demand at any location, the ministry is ready to consider it.

“Residents can make requests since KPDN has a system and we will see the appropriateness of the request, since there are suppliers and traders who are keen on Mobile Rahmah Sales.

Meanwhile, Azman paid a courtesy call on Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun to discuss tighter enforcement at the Malaysia-Thailand border.

“As a result of this discussion, we will increase enforcement and security to avoid ‘leakages’, together with other agencies such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Immigration Department and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department,” he added.
