KUALA LUMPUR, MyB Innovation Sdn Bhd has successfully developed a high-tech prosthetic leg, MyB Prosthetic Limb, which will be commercialised in the Indonesian market. MyB Innovation and Indonesia's PT Yusuf Ortonesia Medika signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to market the prosthetic limb with a sales projection of RM1 million in the first year. In a joint statement today, SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp) and Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia (YIM) said that MyB Innovation was awarded a RM191,859 grant under the Inclusive Ecosystem Programme for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (i-SEE). SME Corp chief executive officer (CEO) Rizal Nainy said the i-SEE programme provides grants of up to RM200,000 for each innovator or entrepreneur. "Through this programme, innovators or companies can explore broader business opportunities at the regional level while also bringing significant benefits to Malaysia's inclusive community. Since 2021, a total of 40 grants amounting to RM5.52 million have been awarded," h e said. Rizal noted that the i-SEE programme is an extension of the High Impact Programme 6 (HIP 6) under the SME Master Plan (2012-2020), which evolved from the Inclusive Innovation Programme implemented from 2016 to 2020, where 62 approvals worth RM13.84 million were granted. YIM CEO Dr Sharmila Mohamed Salleh added that an impact study conducted on the i-SEE project between 2021 and 2023 revealed that 19 recipient companies successfully increased their annual revenue. The MyB Prosthetic Limb features innovative characteristics such as the ability to bend up to 180 degrees and offers maximum comfort and flexibility for those who have undergone below-knee amputations. Unlike conventional prosthetic legs, which are limited to standing and walking, this new prosthetic leg allows for ankle movement, making it ideal for activities such as prostration and yoga.
