SEOUL, Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp., South Korea's leading automakers, have picked up nine awards at prestigious annual design awards in the United States for their innovative design competitiveness, the companies said Wednesday. Hyundai snagged six top awards at the 2023 Good Design Awards in the transportation category from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The company said its N Vision 74, Ioniq 6, Grandeur and Kona models were recognized for their significance in innovative vehicle design. Kia's EV9 electric vehicle model and the company's car infotainment system, named Ki, were also honored in the same category. Hyundai's independent premium brand Genesis also won an award for the concept of the company's Genesis X Convertible model. A Hyundai representative said the recognitions "serve as a testament to the exceptional dedication exhibited by our team of visionary designers" and that it highlights "th e remarkable competitiveness of Hyundai's design identity with the global market."
