HK’S BLUE WARRIOR TRIUMPHS AT LISC 2024 DAIWA INTL DEEP SEA CHALLENGE

LABUAN, April 28 (Bernama) – The Daiwa International Deep Sea Fishing Challenge 2024, a key event of the 26th Edition of the Labuan International Sea Challenge (LISC), concluded today with the Hong Kong team Blue Warrior emerging as the champions.

Capturing the grand prize of RM45,000, along with Daiwa fishing gear and trophies, Blue Warrior showcased their angling prowess with an impressive haul of 85.8 kg of grouper, snapper, barracuda, amberjack and tuna.

The team set sail on April 23 for Layang-Layang Island in the South China Sea, approximately 270km from Labuan, and returned five days later with their remarkable catch.

This annual deep sea fishing tournament is organised by Labuan Corporation in collaboration with its Sports, Welfare and Culture Club.

Sixteen boats with 184 anglers vying for victory onboard, representing a diverse array of participants from Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, Guangdong (China), and Indonesia, set off from the Labuan Public Marina on A
pril 23 .

Securing the first runner-up position was the Malaysian (Sabah) team, Mystery A, with a variety of catch weighing 76.1kg, earning them RM15,000, Daiwa fishing gear and trophies.

Brunei’s BN Reelers B clinched the third spot with an assorted catch of 52.6kg, walking away with RM10,000, Daiwa fishing gear, and trophies.

Meanwhile, Deep Blue from Malaysia (Sabah) secured the fourth position with a catch of 50.9kg, receiving RM5,000, Daiwa fishing gear, and trophies.

In the special category, Malaysian angler Rodzhan Major, captain of the Mystery A Team (Sabah), stole the spotlight by landing a Dog Choo Tuna weighing an impressive 44.66kg, earning him RM6,163.70 worth of Daiwa fishing gear.
