HEAT WAVE: BROADCASTING DEPT AIRS CREATIVE PROGRAMME USING KELANTANESE DIALECT

The Kelantan Broadcasting Department has produced a creative public service announcement programme via radio to provide listeners with the latest information on the current heat wave.

Its director Wan Azhan Wan Hamat said the special radio programme on KELANTANfm uses the Kelantanese dialect to enable listeners to understand the information better.

“We are not limited to DJ slang, but produce many creative programmes in Kelantanese dialect as we know it is more casual and easier to understand for listeners.

“These include programmes like ‘Mek Bungo Lecu Meroh’ and ‘Sketsa Wok Yoh Samad Said’, which listeners love, and the information sticks in their mind in the form of advice, including information on the current heat wave,” he told reporters after officiating the Gateh Lebaran 2023 programme organised by I Medikel Pharma Holding Bhd with the assistance of Aeonmall Group here today.

Wan Azhan said the programme gathers information from authoritative sources, including the Health Ministry, and reviews the information to ensure that it is accurate and factual.

“The source is important as we don’t want our credibility as a government broadcaster to e disputed, just points of the topic that are made by our presenters, we need to ensure are true and factual,” he said, adding that the programme has built up a fanbase of its own, as the information is easily conveyed, followed and becomes a reference, especially for ways to avoid heatstroke during the current hot spell.
