Head coach for runners-up Pohang to lead Team K League vs. Tottenham

The South Korean football league on Thursday announced changes to its coaching staff for an upcoming exhibition match against Tottenham Hotspur. The Korea Professional Football League (K League) said Park Tae-ha, head coach of Pohang Steelers in the top-flight K League 1, will be in charge of Team K League when they take on Spurs at Seoul World Cup Stadium on July 31. In June, the K League had said Hong Myung-bo, then head coach of the defending champions Ulsan HD FC, would lead Team K League, a squad of All-Stars selected by fans and coaches. However, Hong was named the new head coach of the South Korean men's national team earlier this month. Ulsan have not hired a full-time replacement for Hong. Park, as head coach of the second-place team from 2023, will step in for Hong. This is Park's first season as Pohang's boss. Through the weekend action, Pohang sat in third place with 41 points, just two back of the league-leading Gimcheon Sangmu FC. Suwon FC head coach Kim Eun-jung will serve as Park's assist ant on July 31. Suwon FC forward Lee Seung-woo was the top vote-getter among the starting lineup for Team K League announced Tuesday.
