Major South Korean shipyard HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. said Wednesday it has won a 278.9 billion-won (US$207 million) order to build four petrochemical carriers for an Asian shipper. Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., one of HD Korea Shipbuilding's three shipbuilding units, will construct the carriers at its shipyard in the southeastern port of Ulsan, HD Korea Shipbuilding said in a regulatory filing. The vessels will be delivered to the undisclosed shipping company by August 2026, it added. So far this year, HD Korea Shipbuilding has obtained orders to construct 82 vessels worth $8.75 billion, or 69.6 percent of its yearly target of $13.5 billion. HD Korea Shipbuilding, a subholding company of shipbuilding, oil refining and machinery conglomerate HD Hyundai, has three domestic units under its wing -- HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co.
