The Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a sub-decree on the establishment of Kampong Som city, a new city of Preah Sihanouk province. According to the sub-decree signed on Aug. 28 by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Kampong Som consists of five Sangkats - Ream, Bith Trang, O' Oknha Heng, Boeung Ta Prohm, and O' Chrov, the former communes of Prey Nup district of the same province. The Kampong Som municipal administrative office is located in Sangkat Ream, said the source, adding that the Prey Nup District Council and Board of Governors must continue to manage the five former communes awaiting the establishment of Kampong Som Municipal Council and Board of Governors. With the creation of the new city, Preah Sihanouk province now has three cities: Sihanoukville, Koh Rong and Kampong Som, and three districts: Prey Nup, Stung Hav and Kampong Seila.
