IPOH, Four adult passengers were seriously injured in a road accident when a double-decker tour bus that they were travelling in lost control and hit the road divider at Kilometer 273.5 of the North-South Expressway heading south near here, last night. Ipoh District Police ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said in the incident at about 12.15 midnight last night, the accident involved a local man who was the driver of the bus and 34 passengers aged between one and 73 years old. He said results of initial investigations revealed that the bus traveling from Sungai Nibong, Penang towards Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, Kuala Lumpur lost control and hit the road divider on the left. 'The 56-year-old bus driver was not injured, but four adult passengers were seriously injured and 19 other passengers suffered minor injuries while 11 others were not injured,' he said in a statement today. Abang Zainal Abidin said all the injured victims were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here for further treatment wi th the case being investigated under Section 43(1 ) Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving or negligence. He therefore, urged witnesses to the accident to contact the investigating officer of the case, Traffic Investigation Officer, Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Ipoh District Police Headquarters, Insp Muhammad Syafiq Fauze at 013-6713177 or come to the nearest police station to assist with investigations. Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said in a separate statement that the rescue operation involving the accident victims was fully completed at 2.45am.
