ALOR SETAR, A relief centre (PPS) has been opened in the Kubang Pasu district to accommodate 53 victims from 15 families affected by the flood. Kubang Pasu Civil Defense Officer Captain (PA) Mohd Adenin Suhaimi said the PPS was opened at 9,16 pm yesterday at Sekolah Kebangsaan Malau, near Jitra to accommodate the victims. The flood in Mukim Malau affected three villages, namely Kampung Padang Panjang, Kampung Sampang and Kampung Lubuk Ipoh. He said that the flooding in the area occurred due to heavy rain from morning to evening yesterday. Meanwhile, the water level in three rivers in the state has exceeded the danger level with an upward trend today. They are Sungai Laka in Kampung Padang Pasir, Kubang Pasu which recorded a reading of 22.80 meters, surpassing the danger level of 21.6 metres, Sungai Anak Bukit in Taman Aman, Alor Setar, measuring 2.65 metres above the danger level of 2.60 metres and Sungai Gurun in Kampung Perupok, Yan, with a reading of 3.81 metres above the danger level of 3.50 metres.
