IPOH, Police arrested two Indonesian men trying to smuggle out 10.16 kilogrammes (kg) of methamphetamine worth RM340,000 at the Sungai Tiang fishermen's jetty area in Bagan Datuk on Monday (July 15). Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said that as a result of inspections carried out at about 10 pm, they found 10 transparent packets of drugs in a fibre boat owned by one of the suspects. "The two men arrested are aged 42 and 46, and one of them tested positive for methamphetamine. "It is estimated that the seized drugs could have been supplied to 106,100 addicts,' he told a media conference at the Perak Police Headquarters here today. He said the suspects have been remanded for seven days until Monday (July 22) and that the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Azizi also said that the Perak police had seized 158.6kg of various types of drugs worth RM5.2 million from January until yesterday (July 17). He said the drugs seized were methamphetamine (67.5kg), hero in (62.4kg), caffeine (19.4kg), ganja (5.1kg), ketamine (1.6kg), Erimin 5 (1.4 kg), ecstasy pills (0.6kg) and yaba pills (0.6kg) "A total of 11,562 individuals were arrested, including 1,437 individuals (for supplying); 3,422 individuals (possessing); 75 individuals (Special Preventive Measures); and 6,628 individuals (testing positive),' he said.
