COCA COLA MALAYSIA CONTRIBUTES RM250,000 FOR NATURAL DISASTER RELIEF PREPAREDNESS

NILAI, Coca-Cola Bottlers Malaysia (CCBM) once again stepped up its efforts in giving back to the community and the preparation for disaster relief assistance by contributing RM250,000 to Yayasan Ikhlas (YI).

Coca-Cola Bottlers Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability director Khairul Anwar Ab Gahani said the collaboration with YI for the second year is to support the Natural Disaster Preparedness Programme, offering assistance and aid to communities affected by potential floods during monsoon seasons.

He said through the joint effort with YI and The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), CCBM will also distribute over 120,000 bottles of drinking water as part of its contribution to the affected communities.

“We remain committed to creating a positive impact on the communities we serve. Through our partnership with YI and APM, we are able to provide assistance to those affected by natural disasters and work towards building resilience.

“We hope that it will help YI and APM to make early preparation for floods and any unexpected disasters in our country,” he told reporter after handing over the donation to YI Corporate Relations director Kamaruddin Kassim here today.

Also present was APM Training Management Division director Col (PA) Fazlisyah Muslim.

Meanwhile, Kamaruddin said the donation will also be used for YI food assistance programme, namely ‘Dapur Ikhlas’ to support more than 20,000 individuals residing in areas expected to be affected by floods besides additional relief packs such as hygiene kits, medicine and essential items.

He also welcomed corporate companies to collaborate with YI to help those affected by natural disasters.

“This is because whenever there is a disaster or emergency, there is a need to assist those affected by providing essential assistance. Therefore corporate bodies and companies can form a strategic partnership with us or any other non governmental organisations that contribute towards such causes,” he said.
