Phnom penh: Authorities of Chamkar Mon, one of the 14 Khan in Phnom Penh capital, today cracked down on suspected online fraud activities. This operation took place at rooms D2702 and D1003 of Vimean Kolab Condominium, Building D, located on Preah Norodom Boulevard, Tonle Bassac commune, Khan Chamkar Mon.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the operation, authorities arrested 19 Vietnamese nationals, including five women, suspected of engaging in online scam operations and confiscated some materials included a handgun. After conducting forensic analysis of the seized electronic equipment, investigators found suspected evidence related to fraudulent schemes, including forged public documents used to send workers abroad and romance scam activities targeting victims online.
Authorities are now working closely with relevant institutions to continue the investigation and identify the masterminds behind these technology-based fraud operations. The suspects and seized materials have been handed over to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police for further legal procedures.
