Cambodia’s Aquatic Products Enter Chinese Market

Cambodia has exported some 38 tonnes of aquatic products to China’s market in the first five months of this year, a report from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries showed on Monday.

Some batches of aquatic products exported from Cambodia to China included live mantis shrimp, live eel, frozen eel, and frozen freshwater glass shrimp, according to the report.

The export of aquatic products to China is a significant move for fishery sector in Cambodia in addition to agricultural products such as milled rice, fresh mango, banana, and longan.

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, at the celebration of National Fisheries Day 2024 held on July 1 in Kampong Cham province, asked relevant parties to increase quality control, safety, processing capacity and development of fishery value chains to strengthen the competitiveness of Cambodian fishery products, both for domestic and foreign markets.

The Premier also called on development partners and the private sector to be
more supportive through the provision of technology and capital, including low-interest financing, to promote aquaculture and processing of Cambodian fishery products.
