Cambodian PM Discusses Enhanced Cooperation with Malaysian DPM


Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received H.E. Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Minister of Rural and Regional Development, and President of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), during his working visit to Cambodia.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting, H.E. Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi praised Cambodia’s rapid development, notably the construction of Techo International Airport. He expressed satisfaction with the strengthening friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to enhance collaboration in sectors such as trade, economy, and people-to-people exchanges.



Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and his delegation to Cambodia, coinciding with their participation in the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management and related events in Phnom Penh.



The Cambodian Premier highlighted the steady progress in Cambodia-Malaysia relations and cooperation. Both leaders explored ways to enhance bilateral ties in key areas, including the halal industry, medical tourism, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), agriculture, finance, and banking.



On this occasion, Samdech Thipadei expressed his gratitude to H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for his role in facilitating the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Commander-in-Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces in coordinating ceasefire monitoring and the Head of the Interim Observer Team (IOT) in Cambodia for conducting observation missions along the Cambodian-Thai border.
