Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, engaged in a phone dialogue with Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim to evaluate the progress of the ceasefire agreement with Thailand.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian Prime Minister shared details of their conversation on his social media platform, stating that their discussion centered around the ceasefire implementation agreed upon between Cambodia and Thailand. This agreement was reached during the Special Meeting on July 28, 2025, in Putrajaya, and further solidified at the Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee on August 7, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur. Both sessions were organized with Malaysia’s support.
The Cambodian leader emphasized the necessity for the rapid establishment of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and the ongoing operation of the Interim Observer Team (IOT). The leaders concurred on the significance of these teams as vital mechanisms for effectively monitoring the ceasefire’s implementation.
