The discussion centered on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and expressing gratitude for Japan's recent naval visit to the Ream Naval Base.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, a key focus of the meeting was Japan's appreciation for Cambodia's decision to allow a Japanese naval vessel to dock at the Ream Naval Base, which recently completed its first phase of development. H.E. Ambassador Ueno Atsushi conveyed his gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Ministry of National Defence, and the RCAF High Command for facilitating the visit.
The Japanese delegation highlighted the importance of international cooperation, echoing the sentiment expressed by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. They encouraged other nations to follow Japan's lead and conduct official visits to Cambodia, promoting transparency and mutual trust.
H.E. General Vong Pisen expressed Cambodia's desire to foster continued cooperation, stating his hope for future visits by Japanese vessels to the Ream Naval Base. He emphasised the importance of ensuring the safety and success of all such engagements.
