Cambodia and the United Nations (UN) have discussed more cooperation in natural disaster management in Cambodia. The discussion took place in a meeting between Senior Minister H.E. Kun Kim, First Vice President of the National Committee for Disaster Management, and Mr. Jo Scheuer, UN Resident Coordinator in Phnom Penh on Monday. According to H.E. Kun Kim, the UN-supported pre-alarming system is effective in mobilising key players for disaster response. It will contribute significantly to protecting the lives of the people and getting them out of the poverty trap, he added. He thanked the UN for playing a vital role in Cambodia's disaster management, thus promoting sustainable and resilient development in the country. He added that his committee is also preparing a national action plan for disaster risk reduction for 2024-2028. Mr. Jo Scheuer spoke highly of Cambodia's achievements and efforts in managing natural disasters and pledged to continue cooperating with Cambodia in the area. Source: Agence K ampuchea Presse
