Cambodia to Attend a Mine Action Conference in Ukraine Next Year

Cambodia will attend a conference on demining in Ukraine in the humanitarian field to be hosted by Japan in 2025.

The participation was confirmed by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, while receiving a courtesy call by visiting H.E. Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed his appreciation for Japan’s cooperation in peace, reconstruction, and development in Cambodia and stated that he would like to further enhance collaboration with Japan in the areas of water-related cooperation and humanitarian mine action.

H.E. Ms. Minister KAMIKAWA congratulated Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his appointment and stated that she would be honoured to see him for the first time since 2005. She also expressed her respect for Samdech Techo, who has played a major role in economic development in Cambodia and building a relationship of trust between Japan and Cambodia.

me, H.E. Ms. Minister KAMIKAWA stated that Japan would like to cooperate with Cambodia in the development of social infrastructure, including water and digital infrastructure, maritime connectivity, and humanitarian mine action, with an emphasis on human resource development and the utilisation of Japanese technology to improve Cambodia’s sustainability and co-create social value.

Both sides also discussed democratic development of Cambodia, the importance of rule of law, maritime security, and promoting investment from Japanese companies.

In the meeting, they also exchanged views on various issues in the regional and international communities, and concurred to cooperate on the situations in Myanmar, North Korea, Israel and Palestine, and Ukraine.
