Phnom penh: Cambodia has raised its national flag high and put the nation on par with bigger countries by contributing to United Nations peacekeeping missions, according to a Facebook post yesterday by Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Minister Neth Pheaktra stated, “Cambodia has raised the national flag high, putting the nation on equal footing with various big countries by contributing forces to participate in UN missions.” He detailed that Cambodia has deployed a total of 9,199 personnel to several countries, including Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Chad, Lebanon, Cyprus, Mali, the Central African Republic, and Yemen.
The minister noted that missions in Syria, Chad, Cyprus, and Yemen have been successfully concluded. H.E. Neth Pheaktra’s post also highlighted the country’s pride in its contributions, stating, “With this pride, Cambodia is ranked 27th out of 119 countries that have sacrificed forces to go on overseas missions and stands third among ASEAN na
tions.”
