Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has affirmed that Cambodia needs more cement for local development.
While presiding over a graduation ceremony of the National Institute of Business held at Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia can produce about 9 million tonnes of cement (a year), but the country continues to import more cement from abroad to respond to local demand.
“Our current local cement production is higher than before, but we need to import more to support the construction activities in the country,” he said.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that even roads in rural areas are becoming concrete roads, therefore we need a lot of cement.
Currently, Cambodia has in total five cement factories, four of which are in Kampot province and the other one in Battambang province.
