Phnom penh: Cambodian Acting Head of State Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the Government and people of China for their steadfast support of Cambodia's development path, tailored to its national conditions. He emphasized China's extensive assistance in critical sectors such as infrastructure, transport, and energy, notably highlighting the Funan Techo Canal project.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen made these remarks during a reception celebrating the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. The event was hosted by Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Wang Wenbin, at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

The Cambodian leader noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1958, the Cambodia-China partnership has strengthened steadily, evolving into a comprehensive strategic partnership and an 'iron-clad' friendship. He reaffirmed Cambodia's unwavering commitment to the One China policy and expressed support for China's global initiatives, which he believes will aid in protecting global interests, advancing sustainable development, and reinforcing the United Nations 2030 Agenda, while maintaining peace, security, and harmony.

He further emphasized Cambodia's intention to continue collaborating closely with China through regional and international frameworks, including ASEAN-China cooperation, Mekong-Lancang Cooperation, the Greater Mekong Subregion, and the United Nations, aiming to promote peace, stability, prosperity, and development.

In addition, Samdech Techo Hun Sen acknowledged China's role as a major trading and investment partner, a key donor, and a strong supporter of human capital development in Cambodia. He noted that Chinese assistance has significantly contributed to socio-economic progress, infrastructure improvements, and enhanced livelihoods for the Cambodian people.

The two nations, he added, are working collaboratively to strengthen trade, investment, and supply chains, particularly by expanding Cambodia's agricultural exports to the Chinese market. The Acting Head of State also praised the steady growth of bilateral trade and Chinese investment in Cambodia. He encouraged relevant ministries and institutions from both countries to deepen cooperation in implementing the Cambodia-China Tourism Year, increase direct flights between cities and provinces, and promote stronger people-to-people exchanges.
